Professor Fiona Watt announced as keynote speaker for IKC Annual Conference

Professor Fiona Watt FRS is the Executive Chair of the Medical Research Council (MRC), and is also Director of the Centre for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine at King’s College London where she leads a team of 80 academic researchers.

Internationally recognised in her field, she has expertise in the stem cells of healthy and diseased skin.

Before founding the Centre for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, she helped to establish the CRUK Cambridge Research Institute and the Wellcome Trust Centre for Stem Cell Research.

Professor Watt’s major research interest is in the role of stem cells in adult tissue maintenance. Her current projects are exploring self-renewal and lineage selection by human and mouse epidermal cells, the role of stem cells in epidermal and oral tumour formation, and the nature of mesenchymal cells in skin.
