“Medical Technologies – Closing the Early Stage Translation Gap in the Leeds City Region” is a HEFCE Catalyst-funded project which is seeking to enhance the translation of medical technologies from research into patient benefit.  The project will share innovation and translation know-how developed through the Medical Technologies Innovation and Knowledge Centre at the University of Leeds with research and professional staff in four partner universities in the Leeds City Region (Bradford, York, Huddersfield and Leeds Beckett).

The project is seeking to:

  1. develop and deliver a bespoke innovation development programme, which will share best practice and embed innovation and translation capability with research and professional communities across the 5 university partners.   This will include developing and implementing a programme of interventions.  Examples include a ‘gateway’ website, workshops and technology discussion groups which will help industrial, clinical and academic partners and other stakeholders to connect and collaborate on medical technology opportunities;
  2. identify medical technology opportunities across the 5 university partners and progress these to secure proof of concept funding from a range of national sources;

We are seeking an experienced and motivated project manager who will be responsible for ensuring that the project reaches its delivery targets through robust project management. You will be responsible for the delivery of point (1) above. You will work closely with a team of Technology Innovation Managers (TIMs) on the delivery of (2). You will be responsible for the management of the project budget and for driving and coordinating effective engagement with collaborating university partners, other external organisations and stakeholders in project governance and delivery. You are a confident leader, with the ability and interpersonal skills to encourage and support culture change within a multidisciplinary community which embraces people from a range of backgrounds and at all levels.

This post is co-located, and works closely with, the EPSRC-funded Medical Technologies Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC) (https://medical-technologies.co.uk/), which is based in the Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering at the University of Leeds (http://www.imbe.leeds.ac.uk/). The IKC is a centre of international excellence, addressing the creation of new technologies in Regenerative Therapies and Devices and their accelerated adoption within a complex and cost-constrained global marketplace.
